2010 COMBINED FIELD TRIP

The details for the 2010 Combined Field trip are now finalised.

When: 16 – 17 Oct 2010.

Where: Coffs Harbour, NSW.

This is central to a number of good collecting areas. Our primary target this year is to the north of Coffs (Lake Hiawatha, Wooli, Corindi) and west of Coffs (Upper Orara). But there are plenty of other options within a couple of hours drive for those that want to do their own thing: south (to Urunga and Valla which is the southernmost known location for rhads), south west (to Bellingen, Nana Glen, Never Never Ck) and north (to Evans Head, Grafton, Clarence etc).

Accommodation: Park Beach Holiday Park – This is a ‘Top Tourist Park’ rated 4.5 star.  You can walk across the road to the beach.  Campsites from $26 - Standard Cabins from $61, Ensuite Cabins from $70 (off-peak). You can find their website at the following link:

There are no group bookings. You are each responsible for booking and paying for your own accommodation.

Other Activities: For the non-fish collecting people (spouses), there are 2 good markets in Coffs Harbour every weekend, plus nice beaches, scenic drives through rainforest, and the Big Banana Tourist Park.

The following is a rough guide for the weekend that will be ‘tweaked’ as needed.

Friday 15 Oct.  If possible we recommend you arrive on Friday evening. Dinner under own arrangements. Develop preliminary plans for fishing locations.

So we can all head off on our adventure at the same time, please ensure that you refuel cars, withdraw cash, obtain maps and purchase supplies before 8.00am on Saturday!

Saturday 16 Oct:  Final trip planning 8.00 – 8.30am in the Camp Kitchen or at one of the BBQs. Depart Holiday Park approx 8.30am. Fish to the North and Northwest of Coffs. Lunch in the field. Return to Holiday Park around 4.00pm.

Saturday Evening: Swap Meet from 5.30 – 7.00pm. We will have dinner in a local restaurant from around 7.00pm.

Sunday 17 Oct:  Depart Holiday Park approx 9.00am (note: Checkout time is 10.00am). Fish to the West of Coffs ‘til lunchtime when we will have a group lunch.

Those that are departing then depart. Those that are staying fish to the South and West of Coffs.
